DJ Tendraw (a.k.a Michael Shaw) was born in Leeds and
is an artist based in London. He has been described as “one
of the UK 's most active circuit bent artists” a “Raving
lunatic” and “musical anarchist”. Since
completing his BA in Fine Art at Goldsmiths College (1999) he has performed
and exhibited nationally and internationally at a number of festivals
and events (Next Festival, Slovakia, 2008, Bent Festival, LA/MPLS,
US, 2008, Glastonbury, UK, 2008/07, Destroy Athens, Athens 1st Biennial,
2007, Below The Radar, Portugal, 2007) and delivered lectures and
workshops in turntablism and circuit-bending at the Kinetica Museum,
Science Museum and the ICA, London, UK.
In 2003, DJ Tendraw and The Gypsies Dog founded The Gluerooms, a non
profit monthly live art and experimental music event which has been
described by the Evening Standard as a ‘Culture Clash’
and ‘A New Cross sensation for the diary of all local art
phreeks, noise geeks and the dangerously NOW,’ by Smiths
Magazine.
DJ Tendraw has written and presented radio shows for Resonance 104.4
FM, released music on Big Dada, 4th Harmonic and Stationary Records
and is currently artist in residence at Thomas Tallis School, London,
UK.
