29 JULY 2005 Aled Reese with help of spoken word artist Siorenzo Pollermo provided
yet again a mesmerizing hold your breath in parts style performance. More
physical turmoil than ever before is self-inflicted onto the artist as
he hurls himself and his guitar across the room and squirms around on
the floor in between the candles (tea lites) accidentally or quincidentley
scorching himself on them. The screams of pain and snapping of strings
ring hard against Pollermo's voice and words that put all in an anxious
selfless state, at rest. |

26 JANUARY 2005 FEATURED ARTISTS LEGO It gave us great pleasure in reuniting one of the founding
members of LEGO Richard Sanderson a.k.a. Richard of Hume together again
for one night only with the ever evolving but never changing London Electric
Guitar Orchestra. This is a picture of them playing "Strings",
That's Steve Moyes over on the far left with the blue Tshirt, He has played
with a number of different people over the years, Richard did not take
to the stage with LEGO for a "Oh what the hell, go on then"
even though I thought he might, instead he supplied a few of his electrograss
sea shanties for those of us who like bread with our dripping. Dj
Tendraw opened up the show with Plasters stuck over some BBC sound effects
records, ones with sounds of warfare, storms and disasters. Dj Body Damage and Possibly Sick sometimes supplied a musical interlude but didn't break a swett or anything. CD AVAILABLE NOW! |

20 MAY 2004 This date is etched into a considerable number of peoples
minds and souls in South London. Sudden Infant at The Gluerooms has developed
into somewhat of a Urban myth round these parts. Joke Lanz is fortunately
living and working in London and is single handedly responsible for some
of the most visual and sonically abrasive Musique Concrete this side of
hell. After only just redeeming ourselves with the Management
after the whole doll in chicken livers video by O in February I was a
bit concerned about the future of the gluerooms as I watched Sudden Infant
soundcheck. All I was thinking was "How am I gonna explain This one?"
When Sudden Infant took to the stage time stopped for most of us, for
others it sped up. There was a blanket of noise pulled over the audience,
It was like being involved in a car crash but without the car. The shock
was Infectious, it spread through the club on the first wave of feedback.
As the first victim heads for the door the noise stops. A few people shouting
to be heard get caught out and as their embarrassed voices swiftly fade
away like a reverb the place erupts into an applause. Following that came
a loop that sounded and felt like someone smashing all the windows of
the amersham in together, with clean slices of feedback and pick-up splatter
coming primarily from a doll with a mini jack up her bum! CD AVAILABLE NOW!

5 FEBUARY 2004 Dj Tendraw gave a short but detailed workshop about the use of ferrite in his work. He played a selection of prerecorded tracks (audio recorded onto a floppy disc via a turntable and played back on a turntable) such as re-recrdings of Aphex Twin, Eurthmics and The Police which were altogether well received by the Gluerooms audiance all except one pissed up Irish bloke who had curiously sneaked through from the front bar to stir things up. When asked "Why?........why do it?" Ten draw replied "Why not?" and Eden who was shooting the live feed turned the camera on the guy, zoomed in on his head, so now everyone's staring at him and its all about him and he aint liking it so as the mob dies down Tendraw concludes his workshop with a truly horrifying re-recording of "Peter and the wolf", the crowd make some noise in appreciation we all look around to the bar, but the heckler is knowhere to be seen. No one man has had to suffer more crowd banter than Richard
Thomas. One half of the mighty Hairy Butter and riding high on the success
of his "Banality" show on Resonance 104.4FM, his first trip
to the Gluerooms was somewhat interfered with by the excitable passions
of some more extravert cliental. After competing with the girl making
animal noises at the back and general conversation throughout the room,
spitting such classics as "Words so fresh" and "Girlfriends
I've never had" despite there utter brilliance didn't quite reach
the masses. CD AVAILABLE NOW! |
